Törggelen 2011

Toerggelen

Chestnuts, young wine and a pleasant “Toerggele” evening must be part of holidays in autumn.

Probably the Toerggele tradition comes from the Valle Isarco. At the end of the grape harvest, all harvest hands were invited to an abundant dinner. Of course on this occasion also the young wine was tasted. Moreover there were dumplings, sausages, cheese, bacon and many other delicacies on the table. As desert there were roasted chestnuts with butter as well as different typical pastries.

In the course of time, Toerggelen has become a tradition in South Tyrolean restaurants. Often these special dinners are combined with a walking tour throughout the pleasant autumn landscape. Don’t forget: late autumn is Toerggele time in South Tyrol. Enjoy this tradition!
