The station of Ponte Adige is the starting point for this tour. At the Mendelhof tavern, the trail number 1 starts. After having traversed the railway, this trail branches off on the left, leading towards the castle and stretching its way up on a beautiful panoramic trail. Past the parking space of the Messner Mountain Museum, the trail across the beautiful broad-leaf forest covering the Kaiserberg starts. Especially now, at the beginning of May, the forest captivates with its wide range of green colours. Glades make you sneak a peek on the vineyards between Frangarto and Cornaiano.
After 40 minutes of walking, we reach the ritzy Marklhof, where we stop for a cup of coffee. When we finally proceed, we walk past the Girlanerhof, via an asphalted road across the vineyards, always following the sign-post number 1. The small but mighty village of Colterenzio is the final destination of our excursion, it represents a real gem of vine-growing farmsteads, with a romantic church and a village fountain. The way back can be walked within less than one hour.
Please note: If you would like to do this walk, inform yourselves about the current hiking conditions on the spot.
