Südtiroler Weinmuseum 2011

South Tyrol Museum of Wine

This provincial museum provides detailed information on wine and its history.

The South Tyrol Wine Museum is situated in a place that has for a long time been known for a wine called Kaltere See Auslese. This light wine is particularly popular in Germany and perfectly suits daily meals. Today, however, this type of wine is only produced in limited and high quantity, often it is used to suit wedding feasts.

The South Tyrol Wine Museum is located in the centre of Caldaro. The site is really suitable due to the fact that it is situated in the largest connected wine growing area of South Tyrol. By means of old agricultural equipment, in a former tithe cellar, interesting information about the development of the wine growing sector are provided. Different cultivation methods for wines, also several which are not used any longer today, are presented in the garden in the back of the museum by means of an educational trail. Grape tastings in autumn are also a popular event taking place in this museum.
Apropos tastings: on order you can also experience different types of wine with all your senses.
