Visible from afar and located in graceful altitudes, the tower of Castel Corba rises into the sky in the surroundings of Appiano.

More or less in the same period as Castel Boymont, around 1236, the residential tower of the lords Herren von Korb was constructed. The family is descendant from a gender of ministry officials in the line of duty for the counts of Appiano. As feud, it repeatedly changed hands in the course of time and was administered by various different aristocratic families.
In 1834 Johann von Putzer had the castle enlarged and a chapel constructed. In 1877 Castel Corba was purchased by the German citizen Tessmann, whose son Freidrich von Tessmann was a famous Tyrolean historian. His impressive gathering of Tyrolean documents passed to South Tyrol as a present. As you can imagine, the present regional library „Dr. Friedrich Tessman“ in Bolzano developed out of this collection.
In 1918 Anton Dellago came to own the castle. The sun of Anton Dellago worked Castel Corba up to an agricultural model plant and established a castle hotel as well as a noble restaurant in the interior of the ancient murals.
Still today the same family runs the complex. For his competence, the owner of the castle was by the way also elected major of Appiano. Originally the castle consisted of the five-stored residential tower and only a few wooden buildings for the staff. The entrance of the median floor was accessible via a ladder only. The third and fourth floor in High Romanesque style were habitable.
The area of the fifth floor was used for potential defense. The tower is concluded by a low square roof. The typical small building of these days has been preserved relatively well. The more recent annexes from a castle-like complex and is decorated by crenels that can be seen from afar. Visitors are also attracted by the round-arched windows with round separation columns, bud capitals and blind arches as well as square and round-arched doors.
Particularly interesting for guests are of course the hotel and the noble restaurant provide the opportunity to pleasantly stay in this ambiance.
Moreover the castle is venue for classical concerts.
