Cycling from Appiano to the surroundings of Merano

Cycling from Riva di Sotto to Lana across the villages of the Valle dell’Adige.

Discovering the Valle dell’Adige and the surroundings by bycicle: a great idea thanks to the vast network of hiking trails as well as further routes. We start our tour in the northern village of Riva di Sotto, located in the valley floor of the Valle dell’Adige.

We proceed Via Pillhof towards south, traverse the roundabout and proceed via Frangart to the station of Ponte d’Adige. At the Adige bridge, before passing the railway lines, we turn right onto the cycle track, proceeding along the Adige to the station of Lana - Postal, where we cycle over the bridge to Lana and turn into the Via Dogana and Via del Sole, leading to Lana di Sotto. From the little village with its historic church we proceed via Via Schnatterpeck to Piazza Tribus and via the Hofer road towards the centre of Lana di Sopra (Am Gries). Now it is high time to take a break, as Lana is a place to be discovered on foot.

In order to make the our cycling tour more interesting, we choose an alternive route for your way back. Instead of taking the cycle track, we proceed on the „ancient“ road to Bolzano, passing through Postal and Gargazzone, Vilpiano and Terlano. In this way we also get the opportunity to take a closer look at the villages of the Valle dell’Adige. Short before reaching Settequercie we turn right to Via Rubatsch. On an arched bridge we traverse the Adige river and the MeBo clearway, before we return to Riva di Sotto across fruit orchards.
