The village of Monticolo is a rather small, but the church is of course not missing. It was constructed in late-Gothic style around 1470. A ribbed vault without abutment decorated the rectangular nave. The nave windows consist of neo-Gothic tracery and dates back to the year 1902. The altar of the church presents Baroque architectural style and features elements of the artist Jörg Stieger from Casteldarne in Val Pusteria. The altarpiece shows the adoration of the Three Kings and was decorated by Johann Victor Plazer around 1701. Also elements of the early Baroque period and the Renaissance characterise this building.
In the northern part there is the church tower, which is finished off by a pyramid roof of the year 1518. The dial of the tower clock dates back to the 1678.
The only bell in the tower was cast in 1505. On Sundays and feast days there is a Holy Mass in the church of Monticolo, taking place at 10.15 am. The church and the entire village are by the way perfect starting points for hikes across the forest of Monticolo.
