This legend from the beautiful village of San Paolo tells about a patron and his way in the hereafter.
Sometime, the cemetery around the church of San Paolo became too small and one was looking for a property outside. A Jew gave the church a piece of land. When he was dying, he mentioned: “When a sign grows out of my tomb, I am saved and in blessed eternity.”
The man died and was buried in an unsanctified corner of the cemetery. On his grave a stone was placed with an iron bar decorated with a leaf on its top. Not long afterwards, a rose bush grew out of the earth of the tomb. The grave and the stone are still there today, but the inscription is no longer recognisable.
