Appiano Monte is the seat for the picturesque attraction of Castel Moos-Schulthaus, hosting the Museum for Mediaeval culture of living.

A series of residential mansions and castles are located in the area of Appiano Monte, a beautiful area, slightly away from S. Michele. A visit to the museum for Medieval culture of living can be well-combined with a scenic walk. The nearby Gleif hill for instance provides a view that ranges from Appiano to Bolzano.
The castle has been built in the 14th century, the mural paintings also date back to that age.
The museum opened in 1985 and is administrated by the Walther-Amonn-Foundation.
Castel Moos, the Schulthaus residence and the S. Caterina chapel located underneath represent an ensemble that is typical for Appiano. The great landscape of vineyards is, however, a good alternative for those who prefer staying outdoor.
