In Cornaiano, above the provincial capital of Bolzano, the Marklhof is located amidst vines and fruit trees.

The Marklhof residence housed several families who were either tenants or owners of the building. Among them the families Lanser von Seebald Lieb, von Schulthaus or the Premonstratensian monastery Steingaden. Since 1500 the inhabitants of the house were the wine suppliers of the canons from Bavaria, Steingaden.
The monastery was dissolved. In 1808 F. and V. Krautschneider bought the beautiful house. Then when the Tschöll family lived here, the residence was passed on to the Niedermayr family.
In 1938 the Marklhof came into the hands of the canons of Neustift (Bressanone), who can still present excellent wines from Cornaiano today.
Few remains of a chapel were discovered around the turn of the century (19th and 20th centuries). The historic pewter pediments give the seat its attractive visual charm. Today the Marklhof is in private hands.
