Dreiburgenwanderung Kreideturm P

This famous tower called “Kreideturm” is located about 50 m beneath Appiano Castle.

The single tower is quadrangular and was built together with Appiano Castle at the end of the 12th and beginning of the 13th century. It was probably used to light signal fires a little later.

Around the tower you can see a ring wall. The high entrance on the south side of the building is decorated with ornaments. On the opposite side there is another entrance further down. Probably it also was used to light fires. Inside the tower there is only one dark shaft.

Those who hike up to Appiano Castle should also visit the “Kreideturm”.
