Die Glocke von St. Pauls 2011

The campana of S. Paolo

Instead of worth seeing, the church bell of S. Paolo is at any rate worth hearing.

It is called Annamaria and weighs 3,860 kg, its diametre is 183.5 cm and its sound is mighty and sublime. The large bell of the so-called dome in the countryside is one of the most famous of South Tyrol and its tone is a wonderful A conveying pleasant vibrations.

The first large bell was commissioned and cast between 1645 and 1676. Already in 1701 the first bell burst and had to be newly cast, resluting in a bell called Annamaria and her special sound, which still today invites people to pray. However, actually the name of the bell derives from spoken language.

Our tip: on Sunday at midday, you can hear the sound of the bell!
